If you have a major real estate firm in town (hard to believe you wouldn’t!) go in and ask them if they offer courses, and if they don’t ask where you can take courses. I believe there are also online real estate courses.
Plenty of ways to do it. One answer already provides probably the best way: Contact one or more local real estate firms and ask. Many put on their own classes. If they don’t, they can certain refer you to a place that does.
Another way: Many community colleges offer whatever classes are required by the state. State regulations differ as to what must be covered, and the minimum number of hours of classroom time. (It’s often in the range of 60 hours of classroom time.)
One suggestion: Take the classes in the shortest, most concentrated period time possible. When I took them, the options ranged all the way from a 2-week intensive course to once a week. Community colleges sometimes spread it out even further. That’s not a good idea. There’s a lot of stuff you need to learn and things to memorize–terms, definitions, etc. It’s a lot easier to do it in a focused, intensive series of classes than to spread it out over months.
Once you take the state-required courses, you’ll have to pass a standardized state exam. Then you just pay the licensing fees, and you’re an agent.
Again, talk to several real estate firms in your area for more details.
Contact The Board of Realtors in your area. They will be the one to steer you in the right directions with EVERYTHING you need to do since they are where you apply and sign up for classes etc.
Each state has their own requirements. So the best thing to do is find your states we site and look for real estate agents requirements. The site will spell out for you the necessary requirements to become a licensed real estate agent in your state.
Normally a state requires you to attend a state recognized school after which you have to take and pass the state administered real estate examination.
You might also look in the local paper to see if any of your local real estate brokers are hiring. If you call them they are able to assist you in getting started and upon completion of your requirements and your license in hand they will hire you.
The other way is look in your local phone book for real estate schools. Contacting them will also give you your state requirements. You might do the same with finding real estate schools on the internet.
One other way is to find your local community college and see if they offer course for the real estate agent.
I hope this has been of some use to you, good luck.
