The debt should have been taken care of with your divorce.  If you didn&#039;t, Canadians shouldn&#039;t have to be stuck with the bill.</description>

		<description>Nope, once the lien is on the house, they will not forgive the debt.  The debt will come from the proceeds of the sale.  This should have been accounted for in the divorce settlement (i.e. husband is not credited with all of his share of the house, because his share is reduced by the debt).</description>

		<description>I doubt the govt would forgive the debt if your husband&#039;s name is still on the house title, and the govt intends to get the gst back when he has the money from selling the house.
