Assuming you were non-resident for tax purposes for those six years, you will only be able to contribute towards any unused RRSP contribution room from prior years.

Also in 2009 we have the TFSAs coming. You might want to look into contributing to one of those immediately in 2009 and though you don't get a tax deduction, the earnings in the TFSA will be tax free.

You really should have filed tax returns with CRA for the years you were away on your world income. Once you finally file a current return with them, they'll question the you for the other years.

You must wait until next year. Unless you have available room from before you left Canada. If you call Revenue Canada they will be able to tell you your available room

Since you haven't received it, I'm going to guess it's not 4-6 weeks, but closer to the 8-12.

You sent it in right in the middle of the busiest period, it always takes longer then.

Ah, the joys of living in Quebec. The rest of Canada only fills out one return, one refund to process.

Buy, buy, buy..if your credit is decent, and it sounds like it is, you will not regret this decision. It may be tight until your student loans are retired, but to continue to pay rent until that time is throwing out money. I hope you see this the way I've always advised my own family, and it has always worked! Good luck!

Yahoo Finance has a calculator to help you decide whether to purchase or rent.

Yahoo Answer trunkates the link, but it should work.

always buy. think of it this way. when you rent the payment is just for you to live there. When you buy with each payment you are one payment closer to owning the place

if you rented the same place for ten years, then you should be a buyer. think of the equity you could have built up in your own home for the last ten years instead of the landlord making the money. don't overpay, but buy buy buy.

First, find a better band to see in concert.

Then go buy a prepaid card as was said above.
